Elijah Homes supports Dillon’s development through work experience
We’re delighted that one of our members, Elijah Homes, was able to offer a student a two-week work experience placement as part of Cyfle Building Skills’ work experience programme.
Established in 2018, Elijah Homes Limited is a family-owned, multi-disciplinary construction company led by Johan Taffetsauffer. Since launching, Johan and his team have built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality work across Wales, with a clear focus on clients, safety and building long-term relationships.
Elijah Homes became a member of CCTAL earlier this year, and it’s great to see them already supporting a local student through our membership network and helping to give the next generation work experience in the industry.
Dillon Evans, a full-time plastering student at Coleg Sir Gar, spent two weeks with the Elijah Homes team, getting involved in a range of tasks including rendering, skimming and constructing stud walls.
The placement gave Dillon the chance to see how the skills he’s developing at college are used across live projects, while experiencing the pace, teamwork and expectations of working on site. For Dillon, one of the highlights was being able to put his classroom learning to use and gain a better understanding of what working in the industry is like day to day.
Lucinda Taffetsauffer, Office Manager at Elijah Homes, said:
“Dillon has been a pleasure to have with us over the past two weeks. He approached every task with a positive attitude and was always willing to listen, learn and get involved. He showed genuine interest in the work, worked well with the team, and made the most of every opportunity to develop his practical skills.
“It has been great to see him put what he has learned at college into practice on site, and we wish him every success as he continues his studies and works towards a career in plastering.”
The experience has helped Dillon build his confidence, strengthen his plastering skills, and gain a clearer idea of the career he would like to pursue. Returning to college, he can draw on what he has seen and learnt from Elijah Homes on site as he continues to develop his techniques and progress with his studies.

Working together allows us to create more opportunities for learners and strengthen the links between education and industry. We love building these relationships with our members and local businesses, and we’re looking forward to continuing to work together to support the next generation.”
Work experience placements like this are only possible because of the businesses willing to give their time, knowledge and resources to support students and apprentices. We’re incredibly grateful to all our members who help create these opportunities and, in this case, to Elijah Homes Limited for welcoming Dillon into the team and supporting him throughout his placement.
