Member spotlight: Westward Energy Services celebrates one year of new leadership
At CCTAL, we’re delighted to showcase the achievements of our members, and this year Westward Energy Services has reached a significant milestone: the first anniversary of its new management team.
Westward Energy Services has been established for over 30 years and is based in Pontardawe in the Swansea Valley. With a highly sophisticated computer network and a dedicated workforce, now nearing 100 employees, the company is recognised for its technical knowledge, reliability, and ability to deliver complex service and maintenance heating contracts across both the domestic and commercial sectors. It remains one of the few companies in the UK with the scale and resources to manage such high-specification work.
For nearly 25 years, Andrew and Joanne Robinson successfully steered the company, following the earlier retirement of co-founders Anthony and Andrea Slattery. Together, they built a strong business that developed long-term client relationships and delivered trusted services along the South Wales corridor and beyond. Their retirement marked the beginning of a new chapter, with leadership passing to Jonathan Garland, Stuart Thomas, and Dai Atkins, who collectively bring more than 90 years of experience across different aspects of the industry.
In their first year, the new leadership team has already achieved considerable progress. They have successfully re-tendered and retained contracts with three of their major housing association clients, including Pembrokeshire Council. They have also secured new business, such as a contract with Merthyr Valley Homes, strengthening the company’s footprint across South Wales. This period of growth has also put the company on track to exceed 100 staff within the next six months – a milestone that would be a first in the company’s history.
Another notable achievement has been Westward’s continued commitment to developing future talent. The company now employs 11 apprentices, spanning all four years of its structured apprenticeship programme. This investment in young people is particularly significant within the local area and ensures a pipeline of skilled engineers for the future.
Looking forward, the management team has a clear vision for the next decade: to establish Westward Energy Services as the leading heating maintenance company in Wales, across both commercial and domestic markets. With a growing workforce, an expanding client base, and a strong apprenticeship programme, Westward is well on its way to realise this ambition.
Congratulations to all the team!
